I am an artist who has a son in Iraq. The Decider consists of huge abstracted American flags and other paintings.
One flag is called, Casualties to March 19, 2007. That dates the end of the fourth year of war in Iraq. It has a hole in it for each soldier who has died (over 3000) up to that date. |

Another is for the wounded soldiers...there are over 32,000 to this point. (I would like to involve people in the work...so it will not look like only my hand and will look like more than one voice).
Also, there will be a piece to represent the Iraqi people.
Other pieces will be added and the installation will continue to be made as long as the war continues.
The purpose of The Decider installation is to give the American people a voice at a time when many feel they are not being hear d and that their voice does not matter...and to be a visual for “the decider” to see what he decided.

 The Decider: The wounded, 2003 and 2004 Will be taken to peace marches for anyone interested to cut holes, the holes representing the wounded. Another flag will be made for 2005 and 2006 |
